The framework
Canary is built on the Human-AI Signals framework: five signals, plus openness underneath, that show how AI is quietly changing the way a team works.

Who sees your answers
This is the part people usually want to know first.
- Your answers are never linked to your name. There's no record connecting what you said to who you are.
- Your link is unique to you so it can only be used once. The answer it submits is stored with no reference back to that link or your email.
- The time you answered isn't stored either — so nobody can line up who responded when against which answer arrived when.
- Results only show once at least 3 people have responded. Below that, nobody sees anything, not even your team lead.
- Once that's met, everyone with the link sees the same results. Nothing is filtered for leads only.
Questions people ask
How often do pulse checks happen?
Pulse checks are one-off — you send one when you want a read on the team, and set a date it closes. Recurring schedules aren't built yet.
Do I need an account to respond to a pulse check?
No. You only need the link.
Can I opt out?
There's no separate opt-out step. You can simply not respond.
Does anyone know if I've responded?
It depends how the check reached you. If you got a personal link by email, that link is marked as used once you respond, so it can't be submitted twice — your team lead sees a count (“3 of 5 members responded”), never a name beside an answer. In a live session, or a check posted to Slack, nothing records who responded at all. Either way it's a yes/no marker with no time attached, and it isn't connected to what you answered.
Can a pulse check run in Slack?
Yes — a lead can post a live pulse check to a Slack channel. Anyone in that channel can respond, so results may include people outside the team list. Worth knowing if your channel is wider than your team.
What Canary is not
- Not a survey tool. It's built around one thing: how AI is changing how your team works together.
- Not a manager dashboard. There's no private view for leads that team members can't also see.
- Not a performance tool. It says nothing about any individual.
